Granny visits

Sleep

Elliott woke at 7am and had a nap for about an hour in the afternoon..

He went to bed at 7.30pm and went to sleep quite quickly.

Food

Elliott had Weetos for breakfast.

He had meatball pasta in a restaurant for lunch with Granny and me.

He had toast and yoghurt for tea.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 dirty nappy after lunch today.

He went to the toilet 3 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath and we switched to pants in the afternoon - he had 2 wee accidents.

Naughtiness

He was really good again today.

Activities

We spent the morning Elliott spent some time with Granny in Reading shopping, etc while I went to the parenting course. Granny reported that he was very well behaved and when we met after the course he had a new bendy bus toy!

We all had lunch together at Prezzos and then went home. Shortly after arriving home Granny left and after his nap we did some puzzles and played with the bendy bus and various cars.

Then we played with dinosaurs / humungosaur and watched some Ben 10 and Fireman Sam.

Crystal Palace

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6am and had a nap for about an hour in the car on the way home.

He went to bed at 7pm but was audibly awake talking and singing to himself for about an hour.

Food

Elliott had Weetabix for breakfast.

He had sausage, toast and beans for lunch with a yoghurt pudding.

He had fish fingers and toast for tea.

He also had some buttons as a special treat in the car on the way home.

Toilet

Elliott had 2 dirtiy nappies today.

He went to the toilet 4 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath.

Naughtiness

He was really good again today and played very nicely with Reuben and Billy - again the only real naughtiness came between Reuben and Billy.

Activities

We spent the morning at Chas's house where there was a lot of playing with lots of different toys and some watching Chuggington.

After lunch we went to Crystal Palace park where there is a farm. He really enjoyed seeing the animals and then had lots of fun with Reuben and Billy chasing around the park and jumping around, etc.

After we got home we did his Thomas puzzle, played with cars, looked at alphabet cards and his dinosaurs book and watched some Ben 10 before it was bed time.

I think he stayed awake for quite a while after bed time because of the change in clocks, but he was very good and didn't leave his room once. Hopefully he will find it easier as the week goes on and he gets used to summer time.

Dad's Weekend 3-D

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6am and had no naps today.

He went to bed at 7pm with no problems.

Food

Elliott had Rice Crispies for breakfast.

He had chicken nuggest, potato waffle, and some peas for lunch.

He had spaghetti with tomato sauce for tea with a yoghurt pudding.

Toilet

Elliott had no dirtiy nappies today.

He went to the toilet 3 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath at Chas's house and once at Matt's house.

Naughtiness

He was really good today and played very nicely with Reuben and Billy over an extended period of time - the only real naughtiness came between Reuben and Billy, but they do know each other very well.

Activities

We went to the Natural History museum first thing today where we met up with Matt, Reuben, Chas and Billy. We drove to Hammersmith, parked in the (really quite cheap) King's Mall car park and then got the tube four stops to South Kensington. Elliott really enjoyed the tube ride and was godo and careful on the escalators, though I was helping a lot.

While we were there I think we all enjoyed the dinosaur remains and the animatronic T-Rex very much. We also had some coffee and orange and went to look around the zone with lots of animals and a huge blue whale hanging from the ceiling. Reuben was very bookish and tended to listen intently as Matt explained the names of the animals, habitats, etc. Billy was the opposite and running around a lot without spending too much time looking at anything in particular. Elliott was somewhere in the middle and if something caught his imagination he would ask to find out more but if not was quite happy to move on quickly.

At the end of our visit we all went to the shop where we all bought some dinosaurs - Elliott has a Diplodocus and a Kentrasaurus and as one is big and one is small he calls them the Mummy dinosaur and the baby dinosaur.

Anyway it was a really great morning and there's still loads more zones, etc to see there, plus the dinosaurs and animals will always be exciting for quite a while I think.

After the museum we headed to Matt's house where all 3 had a spot of lunch before playing together really well. They played with trains, toy animals, chased each other around a little, did some puzzles, etc. Elliott was really well behaved and shared toys really well. He also became really fascinated with a keyboard and microphone toy and was practically rapping with it by the end of our time there.

Then we headed back to Chas's house for a few episodes of Chuggington over tea and then bath and bed. Again Elliott was really well behaved, very polite and nice to the other two and had no problems at bed time going to sleep.

Tea with Millie

Sleep

Elliott had a long nap today after lunch - when I asked him during lunch if he wanted to go to sleep after lunch he said yes and when he'd finished and had 5 minutes went straight off to bed.

He went to bed at 7pm with no problems.

Food

Elliott had Shreddies for breakfast.

He had fish fingers, chips and some peas for lunch with a yoghurt pudding.

He had toast for tea.

No snacks or biscuits at all today.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 "dirty" nappy around 4pm.

He went to the toilet only twice overall during the day to do a wee, including before his
bath.

Naughtiness

He was a little naughty during the morning, though counting did the trick and after his nap was really good..

Activities

In the morning we did some reading and some alphabet (good at recognising and naming objects, not so good at actual letters yet). We also played with trains for a quite a while and watched some Ben 10.
After his nap we went to visit Dave, Lucy, Millie and Elsie. He was really interacting with Milly and they were playing together loads - there was some jumpy bed, some playing with a dog catcher toy Millie has, some pretend tea, etc. They were talking lots to each other and even whispering plans to fool Dave and me with hiding various toys. He was sharing his humugasurus really nicely and explaining to Millie what it was - and she did the same with some of her soft toys (lots of flying with the soft toys). He was also really good around Elsie (just learning to walk) and very gentle and quiet. At the end of the visit there was some Peppa Pig during which he got a bit distracted and Millie kept shushing him (a little bossily), but he was really good natured about that.

Back in the pool

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6.30am and had no naps today.

He went to bed at 7pm with no problems.

Food

Elliott had Shreddies for breakfast.

He had pasta for lunch with a yoghurt pudding.

He had crumpets for tea.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 "dirty" nappy around 9am.

He went to the toilet 4times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath.

Naughtiness

He was really good today.

Activities

We had quite a relaxed day today with lots of playing with toys / balls, etc.

We did go swimming at Carnival Pool during the morning and Elliott really seemed to enjoy this - we were in the pool for about 45 minutes and he was doing lots of kicking with his feet whilst I supported him. Lots of giggling and he really enjoyed the little elephant water slide again.

Enzo's birthday party

Sleep

Elliott woke at 7am and had no naps today.

He went to bed at 7pm and fell asleep really quickly..

Food

Elliott had Shreddies for breakfast.

He had a sandwich, some hula hoops, no raw carrot and some chocolate birthday cake for lunch at Enzo's party.

He had fish fingers, potatos, no peas and a yoghurt pudding for tea.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 "dirty" nappy around 10am.

He went to the toilet 3 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath. Still not asking though.

Naughtiness

He was really good today and responded to a count a few times when I wanted him to do something quicker than he did!

Health

Again I didn't notice any coughing at all during the day.

Activities

After we got up today we did some reading in the morning - he now has a Fireman Sam story book that he seems to really enjoy. We also did quite a lot of playing with cars.

Then it was time for Enzo's party. Unfortunately, due to a combination of him taking a bit longer than ideal to get ready due to a nappy change needed just at the wrong time and me being rubbish with finding the place in Maidenhead, we missed the actual soft play part of the day. However we did get there in time for the eating and cake. He was really shy at first and took quite a while and gentle encouragement to sit next to Fin and opposite Matthew at the table. However, after comparing Ben 10 wellies with Fin, he did sit down and warm up. I think by the end he was really coming out of his shell and looking to get involved with different groups of kids (by now having left the table and running around a little) which was great.

On the way back we stopped at a nice park in Maidenhead to do some scootering and burn off some of the more hyper energy from some of the food. We also did a lot of running and some footballing.

By the time we got home it was practically time for tea so he watched The Gruffalo and then eat.

After tea we did some Duplo building and then it was time for normal bedtime routine. This also involved lots of dinosaur impressions as he got a build it yourself dinosaur in his party bag and he's been enjoying the dinosaur picture book he got for his birthday (currently one of his pre sleep staples. Very cute!

Beale Park

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6.00am and had no naps today.

He went to bed at 7pm and fell asleep after about half an hour.

Food

Elliott had Rice Crispies for breakfast.

He had a hamburger, chips and beans for lunch in Beale Park restaurant.

He had a roll for tea with a yoghurt pudding.

Around 3pm he had a ginger biscuit for a snack.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 "dirty" nappy around 9am.

He went to the toilet 2 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath. However we were out for most of the day and he's still not asking so even though I was asking him he seemed quite content with his nappy today.

Naughtiness

He had one time out today during our visit to Beale Park. This was because he kept not holding my hand near the river despite being asked to repeatedly. So I used one of the benches and gave him a time out. He took the time out really well and was saying sorry and explaining to me why he was being put in time out. When it had finished he was great about holding my hand when asked!

Health

I didn't notice any coughing at all during the day.

Activities

We went to visit Beale Park today for most of the day and had lunch there in their restaurant.

It was a really nice day weather wise, much milder than recently and with quite a bit of sunshine.

There was loads to do there and in no particular order we enjoyed:

1. Watching the meerkats / other little monkeys / owls / birds / sheep (with tiny lambs) / pigs / wallabies / etc.

2. Going on the little train ride around the park.

3. Playing in various play ground zones and the little tikes area.

4. Feeding the ducks and other water birds.

5. Chasing each other and a rooster!

Interestingly when we were playing in the different play areas he was being really sociable for him and taking slides in turn, etc through communication.

Other than Beale Park there was some watching of Ben 10, some reading before we left (Fireman Sam book), some imaginative play with Fireman Sam toys (rescuing people), some footballing and some singing in the car!!!

Little park

Sleep

No nap for Elliott today as he didn't seem tired and didn't want one when asked.

He went to bed at 7pm with no problems and fell asleep quickly.

Food

Elliott had Shreddies for breakfast.

He had fish fingers, potatoes and beans for lunch with a yoghurt pudding.

He had toast for tea.

He had a biscuit for snack today in the morning at toddler group.

Toilet

Elliott had 1 "dirty" nappy around 2pm.

He went to the toilet 2 times overall during the day to do a wee, including before his bath. He's still not asking, and I was asking, but we were also out and about for most of the day.

Naughtiness

He was really well behaved again today. He did want his Ben 10 pyjamas (unfortunately in the wash) rather than his Peppa Pig ones and looked like he was winding himself up towards a strop, but a combination of explanation, cuddling and distractive "flying" seemed to fend off any imminent tantrum.

Health

Hardly any coughing at all today and he took his antibiotics with no problems.

Activities

We went to a toddler group in Wokingham during the morning. There was arts and craftsy stuff for the first hour and bit, then a break when they all had juice and a biscuit and then playing with toys for an hour or so afterwards. He was quite shy at first and I sat with him a lot during the artsy, craftsy bit - not least because he seemed a bit bored with drawing and sticking after about 20 minutes. But he warmed up towards the juice break and started interacting with a couple of other little boys quite a lot during play time. He took along his Fireman Sam fire engine and was even quite happy to let other toddlers play with it (after a little encouragement re: sharing) - though did keep quite a watchful eye on preceedings.

The group itself was quite good, but I've got a big list from Family Information so I'm going to try a few others - maybe one that's more musical / story orientated and when he's fully recovered and the weather's a bit warmer something in the afternoon so we can go swimming again in the morning.

In the afternoon we went to "little park" where we played on swings / slide, etc for ages before then running around the park a couple of times (including some running up and down hills).

We got back late afternoon and did some playing / drumming / alphabet cards / reading and watched some Ben 10.
