Pizza Express

General

Elliott was good today although he did bump his head on a table at one point and it must have hurt. He got through it though and 5 minutes later it was like it had never happened.

Activities

He woke at around 6am today. We had a lazy morning watching Thunderbirds, playing GoGo battles and him playing Minecraft. He had a home made ham and cheese toastie for lunch.

After lunch Granny and Grandpa arrived as it's Granny's birthday tomorrow. We spent some time at home watching Elliott's You Tube videos and Elliott showed them both his GoGos and explained how the battles work. He also spent lots of time with Granny looking at "Where's Wally". Then we gave Granny her presents (a DVD chosen by me and an ornamental bird chosen by him). After this we went in to Wokingham to a toy shop where Grandpa bought Elliott an Underbite Transformer and a Spiderman figure. Then it was time for swimming and we all watched Elliott in today's lesson which focused a lot on back stroke. After swimming we went to Pizza Express for tea where he had his normal:

After tea we said goodbye to Granny and Grandpa and went home where he got changed in to his pyjamas (he'd already had a shower after swimming), watched some Thunderbirds on his iPad, read some of his school book "Hamster Rampage" and I read him another chapter of the Jack Stalwart book we started a while ago (he could remember the story perfectly).

Kids N Action purple slide

General

Elliott was mostly good today. During our shopping in Sainsburys he did start demanding I buy a Thunderbirds DVD box set and then got upset when I said no, even though I'd explained we weren't buying anything for him a number of times before we went shopping. He did head off getting really stroppy though and calmed back down.

Activities

In the morning we went to Kids N Action where Elliott had a mammoth session running around. He was very nervous about the purple slide again, but eventually, after a cookie and a prayer, he plucked up the courage to go down it with me behind him holding on and once he'd done that he tried on his own and went down it lots:

He also tried the tunnel slide on his own and enjoyed that too. In fact by the time we left he was talking about slow and easy all the slides were. After we'd finished sliding we went to Sainsburys to do some shopping. He was really good until we'd finished and it was time for him to look at the toys and then he started demanding a box set of old Thunderbirds episodes. But he did calm down before getting really upset. We also had lunch at Sainsburys where Elliott had a ham and cheese toastie.

After lunch we came home, put away the shopping and then played with GoGos. He had chicken fajitas for tea and after tea we filmed a toy review of his GoGos:

Then it was bath time followed by some more Where's Wally before bed time.

Where's Wally

General

Elliott was a little tired today but he was also really good. I thought he might get upset at small things today due to his tiredness but he didn't at all.

Activities

In the morning he woke up at 6am in the tent needing the toilet so we got up and went to the toilet and once he was up that was it. So we headed back to the conference centre and played with some toys for a while before deciding to head out of Gilwell Park and look for some early breakfast. Eventually we came across a MacDonalds in the car and we both had bacon rolls and orange juice. Then we headed back to Gilwell Park and by the time we got there everyone was beginning to get up so we went to breakfast there with them and he had some toast and more orange juice. After breakfast we deconstructed the tents, said goodbye and headed home where we had sandwiches for lunch (Elliott had honey sandwiches).

After lunch we had some lazy time before heading over to Andrea's parents - Elliott riding his bike over. Harry and Jack Jenkins were also visiting and the boys played together in the garden. When we got home after our visit it was time for tea and Elliott had chicken nuggets and chips before bath time, some iPad and some reading (he chose his "Where's Wally" book tonight).

Gilwell Park

General

Elliott was really good today. Just before football he didn't want to go again, even though he'd done so well last week, but as soon as we got in to the car he started really looking forward to it and talking about how many goals he was going to school.

Activities

Football went well, though not as well as last week. He played the whole first half as striker and created a number of chances that were on target but saved by quite a good goalkeeper. At times he didn't quite know where he should be standing or running to but he did a lot of running around and was unlucky not to get more reward. In the second half his goalkeeping was pretty good and a definite improvement on when he kept goal in training. Unfortunately Panthers lost due to letting in a lot of goals directly from goal kicks but it was really good to see none of the boys seem down hearted and afterwards Elliott had clearly enjoyed the game. After we got home we packed for Matt Hyde's 40th celebration and set off for Gilwell Park (scouting headquarters) where it was being held. On our way we stopped at services and Elliott had a Burger King hamburger meal for late lunch..

After lunch we drove the final 15 minutes to Gilwell Park and after we arrived found our camping field, parked up and put up our tent. Elliott helped me with pegging the tent and also with getting the inflatable mattress ready. After the tent was set up we headed over to the conference centre where the party was being held. There was an indoors with tables, a bar and a dancing area and an outdoors with lots of activities for the children and a hog roast. There was archery with instructors, golf with soft balls, football, big Connect 4 and Jenga and lots of other games. Elliott had a go at archery and enjoyed it:

He really enjoyed playing with all the other children there including Lucas Dawson, Reuben Hyde and Finn Griffiths (Paddy and Rachel's son). He also made particularly good friends with Henry Black's partner Petra's son Thomas who was the same age as him - sample quote from Thomas "hello, we're both really fast but I'm just a little bit faster than Elliott". It was a very sociable evening:

They all did a lot of running around together, some sharing of Minecraft hints and tips on various devices and later in the evening they even did some dancing in the disco. When it was time for bed he was really good and said good night quickly and we headed for the tent where he slept ok, but perhaps not as well as sometimes. However he was really excited about camping and enjoyed being in the tent.

Disco

General

Elliott was good after school today and excited about the disco. He had fish and chips for lunch.

Activities

After school we went home for some tea and to get changed for the disco. Elliott chose to wear his Brazil football shirt for the disco which was a good choice as the hall got quite hot with lot of them dancing / running about. He had toast with honey for tea. Then we set off for the disco. I helped out in the hall for the first 2 discos and during the first disco Elliott was able to wait for his disco with some other year 2 and 3 children waiting for the second disco while their parents helped with the first year 1 disco. I did get the chance to go and make sure he was fine while waiting and he was enjoying socialising. Then it was time for his disco and he had a lot of fun with Charlie, Adam, Isaac, Kerry, another Adam and a few others I don't know so well. He did bump his nose at one point in an accidental clash but after some brief time in the quiet area recovering with a first aid lady checking his nose he was straight back for more. He used a lot of his street dance moves! After the end of his disco we headed straight home as time was getting on and after 10 minutes of winding down playing Thunderbirds with his toys he went straight to bed without a bath (due to the late hour). He's agreed to have a bath after football tomorrow.

Gogos

General

Elliott was really good after school today. He had chicken pasta bake for lunch.

Activities

We went straight to swimming where Elliott really seemed to be trying hard. After swimming he had a shower again and then we came home and watched the latest Thunderbirds episode (for the third time for him he said!) Then he had wraps with cheese for tea before he played Thunderbirds. After playing we counted how much pocket money he had and bought some gogos with it from eBay. Then he got changed in to his pyjamas, brushed his teeth and then read his school book "The Ghost House" before bed time.

Catchy ball

General

Elliott seemed quite tired after school today and said that he'd almost fallen asleep in his maths lesson and his teacher had said he should try and get more sleep. He got a little upset before bed time because I wouldn't let him have any iPad of iPhone screen time before bed time to try and help him get better sleep. He hasn't been waking me up until between 6.30am and 7am over the weekend, but I'm wondering if he might be waking earlier than that and amusing himself. He was good overall though and had sweet chicken for lunch.

Activities

After school it was straight to swimming where Elliott did really well and swam on his back a whole length. He had a shower at swimming after the lesson. On our way home we stopped at a local park where he played on the equipment and we played catchy ball. Then h had ham and cheese on toast for tea before he watched Ben 10 Omniverse and read more of his Minecraft book. Then just before bed time he got upset about not being able to use the iPad or iPhone but we talked about winding down better before bed time so he can have better quality sleep and be less tired.

McDonalds

General

Elliott was good after school today although he did get a bit upset during football training because someone said he was stinky in goal, and then he hit his head on the goal post.

Activities

After athletics we went to McDonalds for tea as a special treat and he had a chicken mcnuggets happy meal. Then we headed to Goals for football training where they split the boys in to 4 mixed teams for a tournament. Elliott played in goal for 2 of the games and out on the pitch as well where he played left wing and did really well (and was up against Adam Hughes in one game). Unfortunately after he let in a goal at one stage one of his team mates called told him he was stinky in goal which upset him and right at the end he hit his head against the post. He did well though and seemed less concerned about the ball hitting him. After we got home he had a quick bath and then read some more of his Minecraft book before bed time.

Ninja Warrior UK

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

We all had a lazy morning and Elliott watched Thunderbirds and played Thunderbirds, as well as playing some Minecraft and with lot of his character toys. Just before lunchtime Elliott did his homework, which was completing sentences, with no fuss or problems. We had pasta with bacon sauce for lunch.

After lunch we watched "Ninja Warrior UK" before he cycled to Andrea's Mum and Dad's where he cycled around their garden and also did some sprinting time trials. After we got home we had honey sandwiches for tea before bath time. After his bath he read more of his Minecraft book again to himself and talked about VE Day and World War 2 for his home learning using the BBC website to help us.

Bikeability

General

Elliott was very good today particularly as I was busy for a lot of it with the election count.

Activities

After arriving at the election count Elliott went up to the balcony to watch all the counting going on in the hall with Granny. After a while he went to ASDA with Granny where he looked at toys before I met up with him and Granny to transfer the bike to Granny's car so they could go to the Bikeability session at Hawkedon. Charlie was also at Bikeability and it sounds like he had a lot of fun riding his bike around the field and trying pedal powered go carts with Charlie.

After Bikeability I met him and Granny in ASDA café and we headed to Pizza Express with Andrea for tea where Elliott had his classic dough balls, burro pasta and chocolate brownie meal. After Pizza Express we headed home for bath time and after his bath he read his Minecraft book before going to sleep.

V-E Day

General

Elliott was very good after school. He had fish and chips for lunch and an ice cream cone without the ice cream.

Activities

After school Elliott told me lots about his day in the car. Because it was V-E Day they had done some code breaking exercises, made a Union Jack flag and they'd had a minute's silence in the playground. He also came out of school with a cake and some decorated biscuits he'd made (he scoffed a biscuit and the cake and we gave the other biscuit to Andrea). After we got home we watched Thunderbirds and then played Thunderbirds with some of his toys. He had cheese on toast for tea and after tea he had a bath. He read some of his school book "Spaceship Graveyard" to himself before we played more Thunderbirds and he watched some Minecraft videos on the iPad.

Nocturnal animals

General

Elliott was really good after school.

Activities

It was straight to swimming after school and we got changed in the men's room again where Elliott had a shower after swimming again. His lesson went well. After we got home Elliott played Thunderbirds with some rocket toys before ham and cheese on toast for tea. After tea he played Minecraft for a bit, before we talked about nocturnal animals and filled in his school sheet about ages. Finally he read his school book "Ghost Train" in bed before it was time to sleep.
