Lego

General

Elliott was a little stroppy immediately after school today. He wanted a toy but I said no as he had no pocket money left. So unfortunately he was badly behaved in the car on the way home. When we got home I asked him to go and calm down in his room which he did. After he'd had some time to calm down he apologised and was absolutely find after this.

Activities

After calming down in his room we played with lego and Elliott told me how much he liked building things. We also did some reading before tea which was pizza.

Air hockey champion

General

Elliott was good for most of today but there were a few strops during the day. He calmed down quickly after all of these - I asked him to go to another room, calm down and come back when he was ready to be well behaved and say sorry. We also talked about how he had been silly each time.

Activities

After breakfast we went straight to swimming. He really enjoyed swimming again and did some swimming around in circles like a synchronised swimmer. After swimming we went to Adventureland where there was a jungle themed indoor playground with lots of bridges and tunnels. He really enjoyed running around in this. There were also some x boxes and he enjoyed having a go on these playing Lego Batman. After Adventureland we played some air hockey again, the driving game again and then played the 2p machines where you try to push more 2ps over the edge. After that we went back to our chalet for lunch.

After lunch we watched some of Stormbreaker which Elliott really enjoyed, although he did fall asleep as he was tired. Then we packed the car and travelled home, which was much quicker without the traffic and only took about an hour and a half. After we got home we had a lazy time unpacking and having tea before bath and bed.

Captain Croc and Bluecoat Tony

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

After breakfast we booked into swimming and then sent to the amusements for a bit while we waited. Elliott discovered air hockey which he really enjoyed. We also found a driving game for little people which he really enjoyed. We then made our way to the swimming pool. Elliott really enjoyed this and we stayed in for the whole hour slot. He did some really good kicking with his arms spread behind him (with arm bands on) which he says you showed him, which is great. After swimming we went back to our chalet for lunch.

After lunch we went to the Fun Factory where Captain Croc was. He and the Bluecoats were teaching the children how to be super heroes. Elliott was a bit shy during this part, but when everyone went on a treasure hunt for the missing pieces of Captain Croc's cape he started joining in. After the cape had been found the Bluecoats then competed with each other in a series of challenges (dance off, etc) to see who the children would vote to be thrown in the swimming pool. In the end Tony was chosen and we followed him over to the pool and watched him get pushed in which Elliott found hilarious. After all this we went out the camp and had a look around the surrounding area, including a leisure park where Elliott had a go with a remote control speedboat. Finally we headed off to Burnham-On-Sea in the car and got some traditional fish and chips for tea (although Elliott had chicken nuggets!)

Pontins Brean Sands

General

Elliott was very good after school today.

Activities

We travelled straight from school down to Brean Sands Pontins (Somerset) and Elliott was really good for the journey - which took about 3 hours because of rush hour around Bristol. He was especially excited when he heard his name on the radio as we text Simon Mayo on Radio 2 and he mentioned us. After we arrived we checked in, unpacked, had a bite to eat and he went straight to sleep after bathing in a bath with a seat which he also really enjoyed.

Cycling at Ludgrove

General

Elliott was very good after school today again. However he stayed behind and played in the play ground for a while and unfortunately a football was accidentally kicked in his face. He was really upset by this and took a while to calm down - I think it must have hurt quite a lot and he couldn't open his left eye for a while. Fortunately after a while he was back up and playing with Charlie and his eye now seems totally fine.

Activities

Elliott spent some time after school in the playground playing with Charlie and Adam. Then when went home via Ludgrove private road and did some cycling practice - just me and him, not the cycle club. He did really well and by the end he was cycling without me holding on for quite long stretches - although I'm not sure he realised I wasn't holding on and as soon as he did he would wobble a little. After cycling we went home and played with lego and had a relaxed evening. We're hoping to do some reading tomorrow before school.

Post Office

General

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

Elliott spent some time after school in the playground playing with Charlie, Marley and Adam. Then on our way home we popped in to the Post Office to post a package and the supermarket. He was really good and in the supermarket he got hold of the shopping list and pen and showed me how he can write "the" and "to" which I thought was good based on what you said after your morning at school yesterday. After we got home we played with lego and Hot Shot.

Swindon

General

Elliott was good today, although he was shy at football and didn't join in, but I'm not sure this is bad behaviour as such.

Activities

In the morning we went to football. Unfortunately I got lost on the way (missed my normal turning and then got confused) so we arrived after the session had started. Because of this Elliott was a bit put off joining in and we spent the first quarter of an hour playing with Adam's Dad, Isla and Freya while Adam's Dad, Charlie's Nanny and I all gave encouraging Elliott to join in a go. This wasn't very successful and I didn't want to push it in case it put him off even more. So I offered the option of going to a pitch next door and just playing football with me and he chose this - so we did lots of kicking and running around anyway. After the session ended we then went back in to the right pitch and he kicked a ball around with Adam for a bit (Charlie left pretty quickly after the session ended). After we got back into the car Elliott explained that after arriving late he felt a bit scared to join in. So I explained gently that it was my fault and I was sorry and that it shouldn't stop him joining in if he wants to, but again I didn't want to push it. I will be making sure I'm there a bit early in future though.

After football we went to Swindon to visit Richard, Kay, Nicholas and Emily Couldidge. This was a really nice afternoon. We had an "indoor picnic" lunch and then there was lots of indoor and outdoor playing, including playing some memory games. He was really good and they all played very nicely together.

Libby's party

General

Elliott was good today, although at bedtime he dropped a hardback book on his good toe so he was upset by that for a few minutes.

Activities

In the morning we had a lazy time playing with lego and listening to music. He was excited about Libby's party and seeing Charlie.

After the party we played with his new Ninja Turtle lego and had pasta with bacon for tea.

Flamewar

General

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

We went shopping on the way home and Elliott was really good. He bought a new little Transformer with his pocket money, a girl motorbike Transformer - Flamewar. We had pizza for tea and played with lego a lot.

Dentist visit

General

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

We went straight from the school to the dentist in Caversham. Elliott was really well behaved and talked nicely to the Dentist when he asked him questions. He didn't seem too phased and afterwards he seemed to have enjoyed the chair that "transformed" into a bed. His teeth are very good apparently. After the Dentist we went to cycle club. He did really well for a while and is really making progress. But then he got a bit tired of trying - I think because some of the other children there were cycling past him and finding it easier and he seemed to get disheartened a little by this. So we've agreed to keep practicing but just me and him for a while until he feels ready to go back and whizz around the athletics track at Palmer Park.
