Glow in the dark dinosaurs

General

Elliott was not good after school today to begin with. He began by telling me he'd got 3 stamps at school but I was disappointed to read in his book that he'd in fact only achieved 2 - aparently he hadn't listened and had been dangerous inside, jumping around. When I had a chat with him about this he got very upset and demanded a treat. I explained that he'd had his treat from last week's good behaviour and if he wanted another he had to be good at school every day again. He remained upset and said he thought he should get a treat from me as well as from you. I explained this wasn't how it worked, but that if he got 3 stars or more every day for the rest of the week he'd have a treat from me at the end of the week - a new lunch bag and a Stars Wars pod mini-figure. He stayed upset for a while but eventually calmed down and acknoledged that he couldn't have a treat until he'd been good again for a while. Hopefully this will get the message across.

Activities

After he stopped being upset we have a very nice evening, stopping to buy tea on the way home and putting up posters and glow in the dark dinosaurs and stars on the walls of his bedroom. We talked again about aiming to achieve 4 stamps and the importance of being good.

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

We stayed over in his new bedroom in our new flat which is now pretty much finished and has all his toys, apart from his posters.

Playing shops

General

Elliott was good for most of today. However he has developed the habit of copying what I say when he wants to be annoying or is upset and did this a few times during the day. Luckily he responded to chatting about why it was naughty quite well.

Activities

In the morning we had a lazy time and packed his clothes before going over to his new bedroom, unpacking and finishing moving his stuff.

After lunch we went with Andrea to her parents house where Andrea's parents were looking after Harry and Jack Jenkins for the afternoon. He did lots of playing with Harry including playing shops, during which they both seemed to have a pretty advanced understanding of store cards and taking names and details! We also all did some playing in the snow in the back garden - making another snow man, making a snow dog and having a gentle snow ball fight with the children in the next door garden who were also out. After tea we went back to the new flat and Elliott went to sleep in his bed for the first time, which so far has gone very well.

Fun in the snow

General

Elliott was good for most of today, though early in the day he had a time out that lasted for a long time as he had been stamping and shouting when asked not to. During this time out he refused to say sorry or acknowledge what he'd done for about 15 minutes. As part of this I said I'd take his Omnitrix away for the rest of the day unless he apologised and so when he didn't apologise I took it away. However after a good rest of the day I gave him his Omnitrix back after tea (pizza) before bath time.

Activities

In the morning we went to Kings Meadow to play in the snow and it was really quiet with a lot of untouched snow. This was really good fun. We made a snow man, Elliott did some snow angels and we chased each other throwing snow balls (gently).

After lunch Elliott helped me to pack up his toys and we took them over to his new bedroom where his cabin bed is now constructed and ready. He helped me unpack them and clean and seemed pleased with his new bed and room.

Long bath time

General

Elliott was mainly good after school today and we had a chat about not being rude to girls (or anyone) to follow up on your work. However he did get a time out for throwing things after being asked to stop, which ended with him being upset that one of his pudding crackers was broken by a toy he threw. We talked quite a lot during the time out about what had happened and why Daddy asked him not to do things for good reasons as accidents could happen. He was very coherent and seemed to understand. I will remind him tomorrow.

Activities

We stopped at Asda for some shopping on the way home and then had a lazy time once we'd got home, playing, watching television and having a long bath time with lots of play.

The tip

General

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

We stopped at the tip on the way home after school as the move means there are some things to recycle. Elliott seemed fascinated by the tip and was talking a lot about recycling. When we got home we did some playing and he helped write his thank you letters for Christmas presents, signing each one.

Letter recognition

General

Elliott was good after school today.

Activities

We did some playing with Hexbugs and cars after school. When we did his reading before bed we did some letter recognition and he was doing really well, though also seemed a little distracted, but to be fair he probably does do quite a bit of that during the day.

Walking with Alice and Fi

General

Elliott was good for most of today though we did have a time out at lunch time at Dave, Jo, Alice and Fi's house for continuing to shout surprise at the table when asked not to.

Activities

In the morning we went to Mortimer to see Dave, Jo, Alice and Fi. Before lunch we played inside with the girls including playing air hockey with their new air hockey game they got for Christmas which everyone enjoyed.

After lunch we went for a walk around the woods in Mortimer which was muddy, but lots of fun.

Warwick

General

Elliott was good for all of today and particularly did well eating lunch at Ask restaurant.

Activities

In the morning we said goodbye to Vicky, Pete and baby Ethan and then drove to Warwick where we had lunch at Ask. This was really good and Elliott behaved really well. We then had a quick look around the town and bought a magazine with a Batmobile.

After looking around Warwick we drove back to Wokingham where we dropped off Andrea and then drove back to Daddy and Elliott's house for tea and bed time.

Baby Ethan

General

Elliott was a little up and down today and had a couple of time outs for behaving badly when he was asked to do things - for example to stop scootering in the park after already having a 10 minute warning to stop. However he was also very good with baby Ethan and with Great Uncle Jim (whose Parkinsons has deteriorated a little).

Activities

In the morning we played with baby Ethan for a bit before heading to the park to meet cousin Tim. There was a really good scooter course at the part, especially designed for smaller children to scooter on (to get them away from the skate park where there were bigger children). He absolutely loved this and scootered round and round, only falling off a few times and always getting straight back on. Then we all went back to Vicky's house for lunch.

After lunch we went to Baslow to see Great Uncle Jim with Tim. Elliott was well behaved for this visit though was full of energy and Great Uncle Jim observed. He particularly enjoyed a remote control helicopter here that Tim had. After the visit we went back to Vicky's house for tea and bed time and played a little more with baby Ethan.

National Space Centre

General

Elliott was good for most of today, though at the end he went a little crazy running up and down the lounge at Vicky's a lot. However we had been on a long journey and he was possibly a bit stir crazy.

Activities

In the morning we picked up Andrea and drove the first half of the journey to Pete, Vicky and baby Ethan in Sheffield. We stopped off for lunch at the National Space Centre in Leicester and had a really good time. We'd been there before about a year and a half before, and this time he was much more concious of what the exhibits were, and took part in all the interactive opportunities. We also went to the planetarium there for a show which was really interesting and Elliott was in awe of the space landscapes, etc.

After lunch and the National Space Centre we drove the rest of the journey and had some tea after we arrived. Elliott was generally well behaved for the whole journey and once he'd let off a bit of steam on arriving and had something to eat went to bed nicely and fell asleep quickly.
