Birthday tea

General

Elliott was good this afternoon and evening, although his birthday tea was quite energetic.

Activities

Harry and Jack Jenkins and their Mum and Dad and Milly and Elsie Allen and their Mum and Dad came round for birthday tea. We all had a fun time, with lots of playing, noise and a birthday tea of pizza, garlic bread and cake. He also got some nice presents - card games, a new t-shirt and some Cars walkie talkies.

REME museum

General

Elliott was good for most of today, although he did get really upset just before lunch because he had been naughty in the car on the way back from REME museum so I said I'd take his Donatello toy away. He apologised for being silly after and was good for the rest of the day.

Activities

We went to the REME museum in the morning where we bumped into Marley and Jayden from school. We said hello to them and then had a look round at the army vehicles and displays. We also did a mini assault course that was set up there for half term and he enjoyed it so much he did it twice and showed his certificate to Marley and Jayden very proudly.

After lunch we had a fun afternoon in playing and watching television.

Screen printing

General

Elliott was good for all of today.

Activities

Andrea took the day off with us today and in the morning we had a lazy time and made a packed lunch which we eat at Waterloo Meadow in Reading because the weather was good.

After lunch we went to Reading Museum in the town hall where we had a quick look around before doing a screen printing session there - they had a few screen printing sessions for children on as they have an exhibition with some screen printing art at the moment. This was really good and Elliott really enjoyed it. He said he was a bit scared of the other children to begin with but that after a bit it was brilliant. After this we went to The Entertainer toy shop as they are having a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle week. We had a lot of fun with the different things there (a quiz mainly about which Turtle we each were) and we bought a small Donatello action figure. We finished with a visit to the coffee shop for drinks, including a ginger bread man. After we got home we had spaghetti and meatballs for tea which he eat really well again.

The Pirates! In an adventure with Scientists

General

Elliott was good for all of today, although he does keep talking about wanting toys for his birthday but today this remained good humoured and didn't descend into bad behaviour like yesterday.

Activities

In the morning we went to Kid's Club at the Odeon in Bracknell where we saw "The Priates! In an adventure with Scientists". This was really good and he was really engaed all the way through and, even though we'd brought his noise protecting headphones along, he didn't want to wear them. After the film we went to Pizza Hut for lunch.

After lunch we went home and he helped with some chores (kind of), and we played and watched some toy reviews on You Tube. Inspired by this we made our own toy review which is now on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMDuRgda4gE&feature=share&list=UUHEkgztlH2W1HIPCT_BWeXg. This was good fun for us both I think.

Dinton Pastures

General

Elliott was good for most of today. However he did behave badly at Dinton Pastures as he wanted a toy for a treat and I'd told him going to Dinton Pastures was a treat. He worked himself up and unfortunately missed out on feeding the ducks because of being stroppy, but he did calm down with some deep breaths and being removed from the situation.

Activities

In the morning we had a lazy time playing with transformers and cars. We also made (another) spaghetti bolognese for lunch which he eat really well again.

After lunch we went to Dinton Pastures with Harry Jenkins, and Andrea's god-child Izzy plus her brother Edward and some grown up friends. All the children were about the same age. Elliott spent a lot of time playing football with Harry and then some time on the tyre slide with Edward and Izzy. Then unfortunately he started behaving badly but once he had calmed down we went for tea with everyone in the cafe and after tea they were all playing together (just as it was time to go home!)

Bringing Down The Moon

General

Elliott was good today, although he was a bit tired around bed time but apologised for a little incident when he was stroppy.

Activities

In the morning we travelled down to Downton where we had lunch with Granny and Grandpa and Elliott helped make spaghetti again before eating his spaghetti bolognese really quickly and well.

After lunch we all went to "Bringing Down The Moon" in the Salzberg theatre of Salisbury playhouse, which I told Elliott was a treat for being good at school. This was a little story about a mole trying to catch the moon with rabbits, a hedgehog and a squirrel. He was really engaged by this, joining in with the singing and clapping and shouting. After this we went home to Wokingham.

Pancakes

General

Elliott was really good after school today.

Activities

We went to Asda quickly after school on the way home and he was really good. When we got home we made pancakes with Andrea and Elliott did sieving, and spooning and even some egg cracking and seemed to really enjoy it. He also eat his pancakes very nicely.

Grazed knee

General

Elliott was really good after school today.

Activities

We did some playing and he played with his astronauts with Andrea when I popped out to his parents evening. Unfortunately he grazed his knee a little when we were playing, but it was fine and I think he enjoyed having a plaster. We had pasta with tomato sauce and sausages for tea and he eat his pasta really well, though was less keen on the sausages as they had "black bits". Before bed, following on from parents evening, we practiced counting up to 20.

Chilli for tea

General

Elliott was really good after school today.

Activities

We went to the Bracknell tip briefly after school to recycle some boxes and Elliott enjoyed watching the men dealing with the rubbish. Then we got a cream egg on the way home as a treat for 4 stamps. We did some playing, jigsaws and reading at home. Also he eat quite a bit of chilli tonight for tea. I involved him in stirring the rice and warming up the chilli in the microwave (I made it last night). The actual chilli itself was very mild with the peppers, kidney beans, garlic and onion all blended together to be more of a paste. I also called it "Daddy's special meat".

Visit from the Sladens

General

Elliott was good for most of today. However he did have a melt down just before lunch because he wanted a birthday present I'd bought in the morning today instead of waiting for his birthday. He got quite worked up and we had a part time out, part calming down session. On the plus side we had a roast chicken lunch and he eat this really well again.

Activities

In the morning we went scootering and shopping.

After lunch Chralie and Peter Sladen came to visit which was really good fun and the boys played together very well, apart from Elliott remembering towards the end about his Ninja Turtle birthday present and almost getting upset again because he couldn't show it to Charlie. After the visit we travelled back to Wokingham where his new Ben 10 nightlight had arrived so we had a nice time getting this set up.

Salisbury City

General

Elliott was good today. He had a slight moment in the morning about what trousers to wear, but apart from that he was well behaved. He also eat really well and had a (quite plain) spaghetti bolognese for lunch after he helped Grandpa to cook the spaghetti.

Activities

In the morning we had a lazy time with Granny and Grandpa. We did some writing practice and colouring in as well as watching some television and playing with lots of toys.

After lunch we went to see Salisbury City verses Bromley which Salisbury won 3-1. We were meant to go with Russ Higgins but unfortunately he wasn't feeling well so it was just us. However he engaged well with the football for most of the match even though it was quite cold and he was wrapped up warm. In the end he did start getting a bit bored but it wasn't until about 10 minutes before it ended anyway. We did have a walk or two around the ground though during the game just to keep things fresh.

Star Wars lunch bag

General

Elliott was good after school today and had got 3 stamps at school. Unfortunately it said in his school book that he had bitten Samuel Bailey, however it said Miss Biscoe was now going to try and keep them apart. Elliott said he bit Samuel Bailey because Samuel Bailey was biting Charlie. Anyway we talked about being good and not getting involved with children who were being silly to follow on from what you've said to him.

Activities

We went to Asda on our way to Granny and Grandpa's house where we bought a new Star Wars lunch bag (Darth Vader) and a few little Star Wars fighter pods as treats for doing pretty well with stamps all week.
