Granny's birthday

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

Elliott had a lazy morning watching Spiderman and playing with his Ghost Rider and Deadpool toys. He also did a quick bit of Clarinet practice. Then we headed off to The Bull at Arborfield for lunch where we met with Granny and Grandpa to celebrate Granny's birthday. Elliott had chicken nuggets, chips and broccoli for lunch with a piece of chocolate fudget cake for pudding.

After lunch we went home and Elliott showed Granny and Grandpa his skateboarding and scootering and then practiced on both for a while. Then we set up the badminton set and played a few games. After badminton he went in and played his Clarinet to Grandpa who gave him some advice ahead of his Grade 1 and helped him practice some aural tests. He did really well and played to Grandpa for quite a while. After that he went back out to do some more skateboarding, scootering and badminton and this time Grandpa joined is with teh badminton. Then it was time to give Granny her presents and then Granny and Grandpa left and he did some more skateboarding practice. After he'd finished skateboarding he came in and did even more Clarinet practice before making spaceship out of paper using glue. Next it was time for ham sandwiches for tea and then he had his bath and brushed his teeth. After he was ready for bed he watched some more Spiderman before reading more of "Charlie Bone and the Hidden King" and then going to sleep.

Comic Con

General

Elliott was good today. He did get upset when we got back from Comic Com and a toy we'd bought went a bit wonky but he did cheer up and say sorry as he'd got things out of proportion.

Activities

In the morning we left early for Comic Con in the Excel, London on the train from Wokingham Station. When we got to Comic Con it took a while to get in through the queues but once we were in there were loads of stalls to look round and loads of people were dressed up in costumes:

Andrea came with us and it was her first Comic Con but she seemed to enjoy it:

And Elliott found some Teenage Ninja Turtles he thought Libby would like:

While we there he had ham rolls and peanut butter rolls for a picnic lunch.

We left late afternoon and made our way home where Elliott got a bit upset that a Deadpool figure we'd bought wasn't working very well but did cheer up in time for pepperoni pizza for tea. After tea he practiced his Clarinet and then had his bath and brushed his teeth. Then watched the first part of the Champions League final before reading moreof his "Sea Quest: Monoth and the Spiked Destroyer" book before going to sleep.

On our way home we went to Woodley for tea and Elliott had a ham and cheese toastie and slice of millionaire shortbread from Costa Coffee. During tea he also told me he'd been awarded Star of the Week again, this time for being helpful and polite. After tea we went home and Elliott did some Clarinet practice. Then he made a new mask for one of his Spiderman figures before having his bath and cleaining his teeth. After his bath he read some of his new school book "Sea Quest: Monoth the Spiked Destroyer" and then it was time for him to go to sleep.

After tea he practiced his Clarinet and then he watched some Spiderman before brushing his teeth and getting ready for bed (he had a shower after swimming). Badminton

General

Elliott was good today.

Activities

After breakfast we went to the Hawkedon Parents Association Car Boot Sale where I helped out on the refreshment stool and Elliott saw Isaac (who had a pitch there to sell old toys). We also found a skateboard that he bought for £4 as a back up to his nicer skateboard. After the Car Boot Sale we headed home and he did the rest of his homework (which was creating a design for a Greek pot with a Greek theme and he chose the Olympics and drew a javellin thrower and a discus thrower). After his homework he did his Clarinet practice which sounded really good. Then we headed to Andrea's Dad's house where Graham, Harry and Jack Jenkins were visiting and Elliott played badminton with Jack in the garden using the portable badminton set he got from Decathlon for his birthday. He also spent some time playing with Harry, but Harry was feeling ill so wasn't in the mood for outdoor games. After a while we headed to a pub for lunch and Elliott had chicken breast, chips and peas.

After lunch we watched the football (and he played Avengers and a scooter game on the iPhone he uses). Then we headed home and had a mamoth game of badminton before Elliott had pasta with pepporoni sauce for his tea. After tea he had his bath, got ready for bed, brushed his teeth, watched some Spiderman and then read more of "Charlie Bone and the Hidden King" before going to sleep.

Eurovision Song Contest

General

Elliott was good again today.

Activities

After breakfast Elliott did his Maths Study Ladder homework and then we headed to Sol Joel skatepark again. He did some gerat scootering there and also more skateboarding which he is getting really good on. After the skatepark we went picked up lunch from Greggs and Elliott had a ham and cheese baguette.

After lunch we headed home and Elliott did some Clarinet practice and we practiced his aural tests on the ABRSM app. He found the aural tests quite difficult, but I think this was more about confidence than ability so we talked about trying to be confident and give it a go. After he'd practiced his Clarinet he watched Blue Peter and then we headed over to John, Ruth, Alice and Hetty Robertson's house in Twyford for tea. We had chicken fajitas for tea and after tea he enjoyed playing with Alice and Hetty (who are a bit younger than him). He started to watch the first part of the Eurovision Song Content with us and then brushed his teeth and went to bed in a spare room.

General

Elliott was really good after school today and was in good spirits.

Activities

After school we went to Sol Joel skatepark and Elliott did scootering and skateboarding. He was really pleased because he scootered down the ramps he'd previously been too worried about and he even scootered down and out of the bowl. After Sol Joel we headed home and Jack and Harry Jenkins were visiting so we went out and played badminton for a while. Then he had peanut butter sandwiches for tea before practicing his Clarinet and playing it for Graham, Harry and Jack Jenkins who were impressed. Then it was time for his bath and after he read "Charlie Bone and the Hidden King" before going to sleep.

Peanut butter sandwiches

General

Elliott was a bit down after school today. It turned out that at hockey squad practice over lunch break Mr Smaje had said a few things which made him think Mr Smaje didn't think he was very good at hockey. So we had a chat about how sometimes sports coaches focus on where people can improve and normally it;s because they really do think the person is good and want them to get even better. Also, later, I had a look at his homework and challenged him to write a little bit more than he had (which was a few lines) and correct the sentences that didn't start with a capital letter and he got quite upset at first about this, though did eventually respond after we'd talked about having to try a bit harder now he's getting older and wanting him to do the best he can, though that not meaning he has to be the best.

Activities

After school I picked him up from hockey and we went home where he practiced skateboarding outside for a while and showed me how he can now do an ollie. Then he had peanut butter sandwiches for tea before we had a look at his homework and he did some more after at first he wasn't keen (but he did then do a good job). Then he practiced Clarinet and he had his bath. After his bath he did some music theory homework and we practiced some spellings (with him saying the spelling out loud, and he got most of the words right from his list). After that he read more of his "Charlie Bone and the Hidden King" school book before going to sleep.

James Acaster's scrapes

General

Elliott was really good today after school.

Activities

After school we went to pick up a parcel from the Post Office sorting office in Gillette Way. During the car journey he told me about his hospital appointment and he seemed calm and relaxed about it. On our way back we stopped for a Subway tea and he had pepperoni, ham and salami roll and we also finished listening to James Acaster's scrapes (edited by me for couple that weren't appropriate as I've heard it before) and started a new audio book about Dave Gorman challenging people to play him at games. After we got home he practiced his Clarinet and his skateboarding before it was time for his bath. After his bath he cleaned his teeth, watched some skateboarding tips on the iPad and then read his "Charlie Bone and the Hidden King" school book before going to sleep.
