Elliott verses the Primary Schools

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6.20am.

He had a short nap this afternoon in the car on the way home Bracknell.

He went to bed at 7.40pm and went straight to sleep.

Food

Elliott had Rice Crispies for breakfast.

He had beans on toast for lunch.

For tea he had a beef burger, a roll, some peas, some potatoes (though again he didn't eat many potatoes) with a clementine pudding.

He had half a clementine for a morning snack and a biscuit for an afternoon snack.

Toilet

No accidents at all today. He also squeezed 3 different poos on different toilet visits - 2 were very small but 1 was a proper poo. I encouraged him to do some wiping after each occasion and I think he was beginning to get it.

Naughtiness

He was good for most of the day, but on a few occasions he was a little sulky to get his own way. We had a few counts but fortunately he didn't push all the way to a time out.

Activities

In the morning we went shopping where he was really well behaved. He also chose his own clementines!

Then we went to The Look Out. We played outside in the adventure playground for a bit and then we went for lunch. Then we went into the science exhibitions and then back out for a final play in the adventure playground. He was really understanding the point of the science exhibitions, much more than last time we visited. Also there were some primary schools visiting at the same time and he was really confident around the bigger children, not letting them get in his way and joining in with them on the exhibits sometimes. There was also a little girl about his age in the ball pit there and he was teaching her how to jump into the balls which was very sweet.

After The Look Out we went home and played with cars, trains, etc. We did a little French, though he didn't seem to be in the mood and we also did some language development with Gruffalo cards.

This then led to watching The Gruffalo which was our pre bed-time programme.

Cambridge

Sleep

Elliott woke at 7am.

He had a 2 hour nap this afternoon in the car on the way home from Cambridge.

He went to bed at 7.30pm but was talking to himself and playing with the musical dog for about half an hour before he went to sleep.

Food

Elliott had Cheerios for breakfast.

He had toast for lunch.

For tea he had chicken burgers, potatoes (though didn't eat many potatoes) and peas with a yoghurt pudding.

He had a biscuit for a morning snack.

Toilet

Only 1 accident today, right at the end of the day just before bath time, but on this occasion a wet accident. He actually did 2 quite big poos on separate occasions on the toilet today so I gave him a lot of praise. Also he did a little bit of bottom wiping himself.

Naughtiness

He was very good all day today again apart from a being a little unsettled before sleep and was again really good with Lucas.

Activities

In the morning we went to a park in Cambridge and then John Lewis in Cambridge for lunch.

The park was really good fun and although Elliott is older and more confident than Lucas at times he was encouraging him and being quite brotherly.

After lunch we had a wander around Cambridge and spent quite a while watching people punting on boats and canoeing on the river.

After we got home we played with cars for quite a while and watched some Thomas and 3rd and Bird. We also did some colouring in with crayons, though he got bored of this quite quickly.

Visiting Lucas

Sleep

Elliott woke at 6am, but he was woken by Lucas.

He had no nap today but was so tired in the evening he fell asleep while he was eating his tea and I had to tickle his feet to keep him awake so he could eat..

He went to bed at 7.30pm and went straight to sleep.

Food

Elliott had Cheerios for breakfast.

He had ham and cheese sandwiches with a yoghurt pudding for lunch.

For tea he had fish fingers, chips and peas.

He had a biscuit for a morning snack.

Toilet

No accidents at all today. He did his poo while on the toilet, but it was only a small poo on this occasion. However I encouraged him to wipe his own bottom after advice of Friday and he did a little bit.

Naughtiness

He was very good all day today and was really good with Lucas who is still only 17 months. So Lucas, for example, might be struggling with sharing one of his toys with Elliott and he was really understanding.

Activities

In the morning we to a soft play place and he had lots of fun. He also went down the big slides there which he really enjoyed. However as he was so much more confident than Lucas there wasn't much interaction with him.

Back at Alex and Maz's house we did a lot of playing with Lucas's toys and they started pretend shopping together which was really good and was the start of them interacting more.

Finally late afternoon we all went swimming together and he had lots of fun with this and was swimming lots and working really hard.

Bonjour Elliott

Sleep

Elliott had no nap today.

He went to bed at 7.30pm and went to sleep quickly.

Food

Elliott had Rice Crispies for breakfast.

He had a fish fingers, chips and beans for lunch with a yoghurt pudding.

For tea he had toast.

He had a biscuit for a snack in the afternoon.

Toilet

He had a poo in his pants today, though did also do a little one not in his pants. No other accuidents though.

Naughtiness

He was really good today.

Activities

In the morning we went swimming at Coral Reef in Bracknell which was really good. He stayed in for ages and we explored lots of different pools. He still seems a little scared of water showers (there are a lot of artificial showers at Coral Reef), but he did lots of jumping in and seemed confindent with everything else.

In the afternoon we went shopping and he was really good.

We also did some Scalextrix, French (which he really enjoyed for about 15 minutes, before losing concentration a little) and watched some Thomas and Mr Benn.

No pictures from today.

Library

Sleep

Elliott woke at 8.30am. However he woke at 4.30am and I think had been having a bad dream as he was calling out for me and talking about "all the water's coming in" He calmed down really quickly though and was soon back asleep.

He had no nap today.

He went to bed at 7.30pm and went to sleep quickly.

Food

Elliott had Weetos for breakfast.

He had a croissant, hula hoops, raisins and yoghurt for lunch.

For tea he had toast.

He had a biscuit for a snack in the afternoon.

Toilet

He had no accidents today at all, though also did not do a poo - though did do 2 yesterday.

Naughtiness

He was a bit naughty today in general. Just a bit restless and contrary. We had 2 time outs (one in the morning and on in the afternoon). Also a little inconsistent as for long periods he was really good.

Activities

In the morning we went swimming at Carnival Pool in Wokingham which was really good fun. He did his normal kicking and also a lot of water sliding.

We went shopping after this and he was quite badly behaved for about 5 minutes before he eventually started behaving. I took him outside of Tesocs and made him sit in a trolley as a kind of time out. This seemed to do the trick.

In the afternoon we went to Reading library and did some reading, which went really well. As well as stopping in a coffee shop where he was brilliant. But then we dropped in on Early Learning and he started being naughty again. So we had a time out on a bench which again seemed to do the trick.

After we got home we played with Scalextrix, did some alphabet and watched some Thomas and Little Charley Bear.

No pictures from today.

Dinomix

Sleep

Elliott woke at 7.30am.

After lunch on the way home he had a nap for about an hour and a half in the car.

He went to bed at 7.30pm but took quite a while to settle (about a half hour).

Food

Elliott had Coco Pops for breakfast.

He had roast chicken, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and green beans for lunch and eat really well.

For tea he had toast and a yogurt.

He had some "Dinomix" sweets in the car on the way home which he really enjoyed!

Toilet

All his weeing was really good today. He also did a poo while on the toilet in the morning which was brilliant and I gave him lots of praise. Unfortunately he also did a second poo in his pants later in the day just before bath time.

Naughtiness

He was good all day today.

Activities

In the morning we went to the park and also watched some television (including Total Wipe Out which he giggled a lot during). He did a lot of running and playing at the park.

He was even more confident with Mikey the dog this morning, though still not quite ready to stroke him, but wasn't upset by his barking at all, even when he bounded over quite close to say hello.

After lunch we drove back to Reading and when he wasn't asleep we were singing along to children's TV theme songs (especially Thomas and Bob The Builder). He was really good in the car and in the end we only stopped briefly two thirds of the way through the journey.

After we got home we played with trains and cars for a while and also did some colour buttons and reading.

Zoo

Sleep

Elliott woke at 7.20am.

He didn't have a nap at all today.

He went to bed at 7.30pm and went to sleep quickly.

Food

Elliott had Shreddies for breakfast.

He had brown marmite rolls for lunch as a pic nic at Banham Zoo.

For tea he had chicken dippers, toast and beans and orange for pudding.

He had a biscuit for a snack in the morning and an ice cream in the afternoon.

Toilet

All his weeing was really good today. Unfortunately he did his poo in his pants at the zoo, but he let me know very quickly so it was easy to clean up.

Naughtiness

He was really good all day today, apart from getting a little tired towards the end of the Zoo visit, which wasn't surprising as it was a lot of walking. However when I didn't buy him anything from the shop he didn't have a tantrum and soon accepted this, even though he was getting a little grumpy.

Activities

We went to Banham Zoo with Laura for prettty much the whole day (11am - 5pm). There was loads to do at the Zoo and he had a brilliant time. Animal wise we saw tigers, cheetahs, snow leopards, various monkeys, giraffes (with a baby), seals, penguins, meerkats, otters, birds of prey, kangaroos, an ostrich, snakes, scorpions, etc, etc. He was interested in everything, but particularly the meerkats who were very responsive. We also went to a demonstration in a barn where a Zoo keeper showed us some birds (who flew right over our heads), some rats, an armadillo, a kinkachu and all the animals climbed over ropes near us, etc. This went on for about half an hour and he was really interested and joined in doing lots of clapping and pointing. We also went on a train ride all the way around the Zoo which he really enjoyed and waved at lots of lots of people. There was also a soft play area and an adventure playground at the Zoo which he took full advantage of and we had a pic nic lunch there and an ice cream for afternoon snack - a white magnum which he took a while to get used to, but soon got the hang of (though lots did end up on his t-shirt).

Apart from the Zoo we also played with Fireman Sam toys and read some Fireman Sam books.

Also Laura and Nick have a dog, Mikey. He was quite scared of Mikey to begin with (he is big and "friendly"). So I told him it was ok to be scared and did an up whenever Mikey was around, but also got him to wave to Mikey and say hello from a distance and told him Mikey wouldn't hurt him and was just being friendly in a doggie way. I looked all this up on Babycenter! By the end of the day he seemed less nervous - though still nowhere near ready to stroke him. However he did walk past him fairly close holding my hand on the way to bed which was reall progress.
