Apple Day

General

Elliott was good for the whole of today apart from an incident just before football when he got upset about not being able to take his Lego toys with him. He eventually calmed down but it took a while and at one point I thought we might miss football.

Activities

Football was really good, although he wasn't always as engaged and paying as much attention as sometimes. He did well though and enjoyed himself. During the actual match Fabio kept stopping them and telling them about "taking easy options" and "giving options" - I think he might have lost quite a few of them during this as sometimes the advice lasted for quite a while. Elliott listened mostly but I think shorter advice might have been better for them at their stage. Obviously the boys do a great job overall though and the session was still very enjoyable for all of them.

After a quick lunch of honey rolls and fruit bits we headed off to Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre for Apple Day. We met up with Dave, Jo, Alice and Fi and had a great time despite some heavy rain. We started with some pond dipping where we found loads more creatures than last time at Dinton Pastures. Then we went around the stalls where there were some craft style shops (we bought a wooden dice), some Morris Dancers, some animals (birds of prey, Shetland pony, goats, sheep, calf, rabbits and ducks) and some circus skills equipment to play on. I think we all enjoyed the circus skills equipment best. We also had a quick look at the big apple stall. Then we stopped off at the Read's house on the way home and played with some Lego and had a look at Alice's new violin. Finally we had chicken and baked potato for tea before he did his homework really well - normal word practice but also we wrote some sentances about his trip to the Church and he was very independent, writing most of the second sentence all by himself.
