Reading about Octonauts

General

Elliott was good today after school and said he'd had a good at school part from being tripped up accidentally by Charlie at play time. He had a burger in a bun for lunch.

Activities

After school we went home, got changed and then went to cycle club which he enjoyed lots. After cycle club he had some toast for tea while watching "Officially Amazing" and then after his bath he did some really good reading with a longer Octonauts book with some more difficult and longer words. I also read him more of "The Faraway Tree" before bed time.

Planting cress

General

Elliott was pretty good today. He had a few silly moments during football and by the end of the day he was a bit restless but he didn't get into a bad place or really wound up at all during the day.

Activities

In the morning we went to football. He did really well mostly but was a bit silly at different points. I think sometimes the training exercises go on a bit long for him and mean by the time he gets to the game he's a bit restless. He did score a good goal when he was an attacker though and after not wanting to listen to Fabio and Bertie at the end he did eventually sit down and then after played some one on one with Adam during which he did really well. He did accidentally give Adam a dead leg but said sorry and Adam had made some contact with him at different points while they were playing together. After football we dropped by a new ark he wanted to show me near school and we had fun playing there including doing some frisbee and football.

After lunch we went to a garden centre with Andrea where we bought some new plants for the balcony and a packet of cress seeds. When we got home Elliott helped us pot the new plants and also planted the cress seeds in the birthday present plant pot he painted a while ago:

After the planting he did some playing with Lego before we did most of his homework for this week - reading a non school book and then writing about what he did and didn't like about it. He chose "How to be a Jedi" to read and wrote about liking how Luke was strong enough to do a handstand with one arm and hold Yoda up with his feet. We haven't done what he didn't like yet because he couldn't think of anything he didn't like about the book. After homework we had Roast Chicken for tea before bath and bed. Before going to sleep I read him some more "Faraway Tree" after he asked for it now "Fantastic Mr Fox" is finished. He did also ask if there was sequel to "Fantastic Mr Fox" so I said there wasn't but maybe one day he could write one.

Harry Smith's birthday party

General

Elliott was very good today. He did get upset at Harry Smith's birthday party as after climbing on the climbing wall higher than his own height he then looked down, got scared and froze. After the instructor had got him down he was quite upset for about 5 minutes so I gave him lots of cuddles and we went outside to get away from the climbing and find some distractions. This worked and when we went back he joined everyone else again and happily did a different exercise climbing sideways rather than up.

Activities

In the morning we went to Farley Hill primary school's fete - this is Harry Jenkins' primary school. We went with Andrea's parents and her brother and their family. We watched a display by the cheerleader after school club and then we heard the choir sing. Harry Jenkins in the choir so he was singing and they sung two songs which were good. After the singing we looked around the fete and Elliott went in a fire engine, won a bubble blower in a lucky dip, scored 2 out 3 goals on the penalty store and won a big balloon and temporary tattoo and had a burger for lunch. There was a riding school there with two ponies so he had a go riding a pony while Harry Jenkins rode the other pony and he enjoyed the little walk around. He also enjoyed watching Jack have a go riding on a pony afterwards:

After we got home we wrapped up Harry Smith's birthday present and wrote his card and then headed off to his party at the Reading Climbing Centre. Unfortunately we got lost on our way, and delayed by some bad traffic caused by an accident so we were half an hour late arriving. However he soon got kitted out and had a go at climbing. As stated above he got quite scared during his first climb but it didn't seem to dampen his spirits too much and he did really well having another go on the sideways focused exercise. I also told him he was really brave giving it a go and had done really well if he was scared:

After the climbing they all had a pizza tea, some crisps and Harry's Mum had made a chocolate fudge birthday cake. Adam, Charlie, Josh and Isaac were all there as well as Harry and his brothers and some other boys and Elliott had lots of fun. After we got home there was just time for bath, the end of "Fantastic Mr Fox" and a bit of iPad before bed time.

Space guns

General

Elliott had a good day. Adam's Mum was in school helping out during the morning and said that Elliott did well writing a story and in maths while she was there. She said he sat at his desk twice for short periods but was well behaved and calm. He had fish and chips for lunch and after school he was very good.

Activities

After school we went to Asda to buy Harry Smith's birthday present and card. We got two space guns that make noises and light up when fired, one for Harry and one with Elliott's pocket money and a Transformer's card for Harry's birthday. After we got home he did a quick bit of cycling before a snack and bath time. Before bed I read more "Fantastic Mr Fox" to him and he read "I am Batman" himself.

England's football men

General

Elliott was really good after school today. He also had a good job sticker on for his really good colouring in of Yoda.

Activities

He enjoyed his swimming lesson and then we went home to watch England's football men. Unfortunately neither of us were very interested so we watched "Officially Amazing" instead. Before bed we had a look at his "Underwater" book he's made at school and he read to me from it about Puffer Fish. Then I read him some more "Fantastic Mr Fox".

Cycle club

General

Elliott was really good after school today, though he did get quite hyper after cycling and before bed.

Activities

We picked up a toy for payment of non-uniform day after and school and then went to cycle club at Palmer Park. At the club they fixed the back wheel brakes on Elliott's new bike and he enjoyed cycling around the track on his new bike:

After cycle club we got home for a tea of muffins and then bath time. After his bath he finished this weeks homework and after some initial fiddling about settled down and concentrated and did his homework well - particularly one question about which 3 coins make up 14p. After homework I read him some more "Fantastic Mr Fox" before bed time.

Father's Day

General

Elliott was good for most of today. When we got home after Charlie's party he started to be quite whiny about wanting to go cycling when the answer was no, so I sent him to his room to calm down and this did the trick. When I went to see if he'd calmed down he said he was sorry and had built a Deadly 60 island with Lego which we took a photo of and I will send it in to the Lego Club magazine.

Activities

In the morning he woke me up with a card and some presents for Father's Day which was very nice. He gave me a Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker father and son book, a book about the World Cup and a bottle of Pepsi Max. Then we went to football and he did really well, especially in a tackling and dribbling exercise. After football we had burger and chips for lunch as a Father's Day treat.

After lunch we watched an episode of Deadly 60 about Killer Whales before we went to Charlie's party at Bulmershe gymnastics. This was good fun and he tried lots of the different equipment. During the meal he sat with lots of the girls there (although he was up and down seeing Charlie, Adam, Marley, Cody, Isaac, Ishan, etc). He did have a fair amount of crisps and sweets which might have contributed towards his reluctance to accept no for an answer about cycling after we got home. After bath he did half of his homework (math's questions based on spending money at the seaside) and then we took a photo of his Deadly 60 Lego island to send to the Lego magazine:

Then I read more "Fantastic Mr Fox" to him before sleeping time

Palmer Park

General

Elliott was good today and didn't get upset or frustrated. He did get a little impatient when we were waiting for Granny to arrive but didn't over react.

Activities

In the morning we had a lazy morning watching Deadly 60 and playing with his Deadly 60 toy set until Granny arrived. After Granny arrived he was very pleased to get his new ring and then showed her lots of things including his homework and pictures of him holding a chick at school. We all had spaghetti bolognese for lunch although he had a plainer version than Granny and me.

After lunch he had a go on his new bike that Granny had brought up with her after it had been delivered to Halfords, but unfortunately the back brakes were stopping the back wheel from moving so we'll need to get that looked at before he can use his new bike. He took this very well though and we all went Palmer Park with his old bike where he did lots of cycling and playing on the equipment there:

On our way home we popped into Tescos for some shopping and Elliott spent his pocket money on Angry Birds Star Wars figures. After we got home Granny said goodbye. Then we wrapped Charlie's present for tomorrow and Elliott wrote in his card really well. Bath and bed time went smoothly and Elliott read his school book "Mum To The Rescue" very nicely.

World Cup wall chart

General

Elliott was in a good mood after school today and said he'd had fish and chips for lunch and eaten most of the fish.

Activities

We went to Wokingham town after school where we had tea in Waitrose before we met up with Andrea. While we were in town we bought a Transformer (Bumblebee) and card for Charlie's birthday party. After we got home we watched some World Cup football which he was interested in for about 10 minutes and then we put up our World Cup wall chart which he was really interested in. Bath and bed time went well and he read the first page of a new Star Wars book which is a bit harder than the old books we have and did really well.

Starfish

General

Elliott was good after school and said he'd had a good day. He seemed particularly interested and enthusiastic about learning about sea creatures.

Activities

Swimming went well after school and then we looked up Starfish on the computer and did some homework. He rushed his writing a bit but he concentrated well. Then we did some cycling before bath and bed and more Fantastic Mr Fox.

Ham and cheese toastie

General

Elliott was good again after school today. He had jacket potato and cheese for lunch.

Activities

After school we went to swimming which he enjoyed. Then we picked up a bit of shopping from Tescos and had ham and cheese toasties for tea there. After we got home he had a long bath and then we read an Octonauts book together before I read him some more Fantastic Mr Fox just before bed time.

After school cycling

General

Elliott was good after school today. He had jacket potato and beans for lunch.

Activities

After school we went to after school cycling club at Palmer Park which went really well. We got his Ben 10 bike fixed as a pedal fell off last time we used it and then he hared round the oval lots of times. After cycling we played football and frisbee in the park quickly before heading home for sandwiches. After bath time he did some brilliant reading of "I am Batman" and I read him some more Fantastic Mr Fox.

Cantley Park

General

Elliott was largely good today. He did have a moment just before we went food shopping after lunch because he didn't want to go food shopping, but it didn't last as long as sometimes and in the car we played I Spy which moved him on.

Activities

In the morning we went to football and Elliott did really well and focused pretty well for the whole session. He was really enjoying tackling and practicing throw ins.

We had sandwiches for lunch and then we went food shopping with Andrea. At first he was upset about doing chores but after he'd moved on from this we had fun helping find different items on the shopping list. After shopping we took advantage of the good weather and we all went to Cantley Park. We played football and frisbee and on the equipment. He was doing some really good drag backs as part of football and he also won our who could throw the frisbee furthest competition:

After we got home we had pasta with cut up sausages for tea and then a good bath and bed time. Before bed he read "Harry and the dinosaurs birthday" and then I read him some more "Fantastic Mr Fox". lunch we set off for home and stopped at MacDonalds for lunch. Elliott had a chicken mcnuggets happy meal.
