General
Elliott was very good today until tea time. Tea was fish fingers, chips and peas and for some reason he decided he didn't like fish fingers or chips on top of peas already being an issue. In the end he ate most of his fish fingers and a few peas but there was a lot of play acting, sulking and general silliness to get to that point and it took a long time. I also had to tell him we wouldn't be seeing Harry Higgins tomorrow unless he ate more when I knew he liked what was on his plate. Afterwards we had a chat about how doing things that he doesn't feel like doing quickly helps and we used the example of homework as well. We also talked about him earning back seeing Harry Higgins by being really good for the rest of tonight and tomorrow morning, which has started well.
Activities
In the morning we went to Salisbury Odeon for a kid's club showing of Big Hero 6. He really enjoyed watching the film again and I also really enjoyed it. After the film he had his hair cut (and was really good and still) and then we met Granny for lunch in Costa Coffee - we all had ham and cheese toasties.
After lunch Andrea met us and we went shopping for his new school shoes at Clarks, where again he was really good and helped the lady out who was fitting his shoes. Then we went to the Cathedral to look at the new Magna Carta exhibition. We didn't think he'd be that interested, but actually he was found some of the display really interesting, particularly the bit about feather quills and parchment where there were examples. There was also a part of the exhibition where people are encouraged to write on pieces of paper what changes for the better seeing the Magna Carta has inspired them to think about and he wrote quite a long idea about cars being able to fly to help make traffic better. His writing was really good and we left it on display with all the other ideas:
Next we headed home for tea and hot cross buns and then he played with his cars for a bit and watched a few Mr Men episodes. Then he had tea which wasn't great before bath time which cheered him up. Before bed he read some of his latest Jack Stalwart book with me.
