House points

General

Elliott was a bit tired after swimming today but said he had a good day at school. He had been given 4 house points - 1 for good handwriting, 2 for being sensible and 1 for bringing in photos of his trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace (he asked me to print them out so he could take them to school and he says Mrs Davies wants him to show and tell them later in the week).

Activities

Before swimming we went home for some toast and watched some episodes of Dangermouse. Then we went to swimming which went well and he seemed to be looking forward to after missing a the last two lessons. After swimming we came home and we played Botshots with his old Botshot Transformers and we had a Match Attax game. Then he read his latest school book which is about computers before he brushed his teeth. I read him the next chapter of his Jack Stalwart book and then it was time for sleep.

New Panthers kit

General

Elliott was was good after school. He'd had meatballs for lunch. His lips were a bit chapped again so I put some soothing cream on before bed time as I couldn't find any of his lypsyls.

Activities

After school we went home and watched Airmageddon on CBBC catch up while we had tea - the new Robot Wars with Drones. Then it was off to football training where he did well and they all look more comfortable on the ball. At the end of training we swapped old kit for new kit in the bar and Elliott now has number 9 shirt. After we got home it was time for a quick bath and teeth brushing and Elliott read some of his school book about dinosaurs.

Bracknell Bees

General

Elliott was good today.

Activities

In the morning we did some more work on the Dangermouse car and we made some wheels, headlights and a windscreen. He enjoyed adding glitter in particular. Then we watched Blue Peter and after he was inspired to download the competition form to design a Sports Blue Peter badge and he drew his badge with gold, silver and bronze stripes and medals and pictures of a cyclist and gymnasts. Then we had Roast Chicken for lunch and he had a good sized piece of broccoli.

After lunch he looked at a "scratch off where you've been" map with Grandpa before we headed back home. When we got home we quickly unpacked and then went to the John Nike centre down the road to watch Bracknell Bees play Basingstoke Bisons at Ice Hockey. We both enjoyed the game (which Basingstoke won 5-3) and we moved around to watch the game from different positions. Before the final period Elliott stood by the players entrance with some other children and fist bumped the Bracknell players as they came back on to the ice. He also had a hot dog while we were watching the game for tea. After we got home he had a quick bath, brushed his teeth and I read him another Jack Stalwart chapter before it was time for sleep.

Charlie Sladen

General

Elliott was mostly good again today. Again he did get a bit sulky when we were in WH Smith and he took too long deciding which magazine to buy (we were in there with Peter and Charlie Sladen to buy football stickers for Charlie and he did take a very long time - so we left without buying one). He took the time it took to walk across Salisbury to cheer up so it wasn't too bad.

Activities

After breakfast he did some handwriting practice and wrote the first chapter of a new story called "Star Wars The Force". This featured the Resistance cafe crew giving Rey and Finn drinks before a battle and I could read every word and so I made sure I told him the handwriting was clear. Then we watched some Blue Peter and set off for Salisbury to meet Peter and Charlie Sladen for lunch. We originally went to Salisbury Arts Centre for lunch where they have a "live lunch" in their cafe with live music. Today it was a band playing music from the 1920s (2 men and one woman playing different instruments and singing). However it was really busy and also very quiet so we watched a few songs and then went to Wetherspoons for lunch instead. We were expecting it to be more lively in the Arts Centre and Pete said that previous live lunches had been less busy and less like a concert. Elliott had a hot dog for his lunch with tomato ketchup.

After lunch we went to WH Smiths to buy football stickers for Charlie and Paw Patrol stickers for Alice. I was going to buy Elliott a magazine but he spent so long deciding that we ended up leaving without a magazine and then he sulked, even though I had told him a number of times he had to decide quickly or we'd go without a magazine. He did cheer up quite quickly though and also decided he wanted the Thunderbirds magazine when we next went to a magazine shop. I told him he could have it if he was good. Then we headed back to the Sladen's house and Elliott and Charlie played football indoors in two epic games with a soft ball after Elliott had looked at Charlie's Star Wars Lego. After an orange squash and tea we headed back to Downton via Waitrose where we did find the Thunderbirds magazine which had a Thunderbird 5 model that Elliott was very excited about. After we got to Granny and Grandpas it was time for spaghetti bolognese for tea before he did a toy review of his new Thunderbird 5 and other Thunderbird toys:

Then it was bath time, teeth and I read another chapter of Jack Stalwart to him before bed time.

Fishbourne Roman Palace

General

Elliott was mostly good today. He did get a bit sulky towards the end of our day at Fishbourne because he hadn't seen the archaeologist even though he'd had the chance to say hello earlier. However he did get over this fairly quickly and then managed to say hello to the archaeologist on his way out the building anyway.

Activities

After breakfast we set off for a day at Fishbourne Roman Palace with Granny where it was a family fun day and there were lots of activites. While we were there we had ham and cheese toasties for lunch and a shortbread millionaire biscuit for desert.

We started our exploration of the Roman Palace in the exhibition part where there were lots of things to see and do. There was a weaving demonstration and he did some colouring in. He was also dressed as a Roman with a leaf crown and toga by a volunteer:

Then we had lunch in the cafe there and he also did some running around outside in the field by the cafe. After lunch we found some Roman soldiers and Elliott had a go holding their shields and having his photo taken with them:

Then we looked at the mosaics that made up the different rooms of the Palace and there was also an archaeologist sat behind a table showing people different artefacts from the site and telling them about archaeology. There was also another skeleton in a grave left in place where it had first been discovered. At the end of the mosaics there was an activity area where Elliott made a Roman lamp out of clay and also made some mosaics using coloured squares. Next we headed to another building where Elliott made some bread the same way that Romans did and also watched some other children having a school lesson from Roman times:

Then we headed back to the main building with the mosaics again to see the archaeologist only to find he had left his table. Elliott started to get really upset about this. However he managed to calm down quite quickly and then we went to look round the shop. As we were looking around we saw the archaeologist who was on his way out of the building so Granny took Elliott over to say hello and he seemed very pleased. After that we bought a pencil sharpener in the shape of a Roman catapult, a Roman coin and a Roman ring. By the time we'd done all that the Palace was closing and it was time to go. After we got home we watched a different Blue Peter before having chicken nuggest and chips for tea. Then it was bath time and he read about Tribal Britons in his new Roman book. After he'd brushed his teeth I read another chapter of his new Jack Stalwart book to him and then it was time for sleep.

Salisbury Museum

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

We had a lazy morning playing with Thunderbirds toys and re-paining the Dangermouse car a final coat of yellow (we're going to finish making it at the weekend). Then we headed out to Salisbury with Grandpa and met Granny in Pizza Hut where we had a buffet lunch that he enjoyed.

After lunch Grandpa went home and we went to buy some new school shoes with Granny. Elliott's feet were measured as size one and half and width F and he chose some pilot themed shoes which also have lights in them. After the shoe shop we went to Salisbury Museum which has had a re-vamp. He found it really interesting, particularly 4 skeletons that had been excavated of Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman people. There were also lots of activities to do including an archaeology station that he really liked, where he sorted found artefacts into different groups, looked at different materials under a microscope and matched animal bones to the animals they were from. He also wore the archaeologist deer stalker hat while doing this:

He also enjoyed seeing some of the other items in the museum (particularly some leg irons and guns) and he liked pulling out drawers to see things where he could. In the shop on the way out we bought a book about Roman Briton aimed at Key Stage 2 and after we got home we read about Boudicca and Roman armies in his new book. Then we watched Blue Peter and he had toast for tea before his bath time. After his bath he brushed his teeth and I started reading a new Jack Stalwart book to him set in Cambodia.

Downton

General

Elliott was really good after holiday club and well behaved during the car journey.

After I picked Elliott up from holiday club we drove down to Downton and after he arrived he gave Grandpa his birthday present (a poster map of the world where you can mark countries visited), had some toast, had a bath and then it was bed time.

Fang

General

Elliott was good and had enjoyed the big Wasma choir rehearsal after school. One of his teeth (a "fang") had also come out during the choir practice.

Activities

After we got home he had his bath first and then we had pancakes for tea which he liked but said they made him tickle his nose. After his pancakes he brushed his teeth, put his tooth under his pillow for the tooth fairy and then it was bed time.

Swivel chair

General

Elliott was really good after school today and had enjoyed his music lesson today.

Activities

On the way home after school we had to pop in to my work as there's a bit IT move going on and I had to sort out a few issues. He was really well behaved in the office, sat on a swivel chair next to me and played on the iPad. He even said a shy hello to a few people. After we got home he had some toast and got changed for football training. They practiced throw ins and heading in training and he really improved his heading by the end of the session. After training we went home for a quick bath and bed time.

Toy review

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

Before he even had breakfast the first thing he did this morning was to finish his Maths homework and do the sums for a third time. Then, after breakfast, we had a lazy morning playing with toys and he made a new toy review for his Star Wars book, his castles book, his crayon case and his Poe Dameron with speeder toy:

After the video we had roast beef for lunch and he ate his broccoli with no fuss at all.

After lunch we popped in to Wokingham and went to Costa Coffee and had a wander round the toy shop. After we got home he watched Blue Peter and had toast for tea. Then it was bath time and after his bath we talked about directions for his home learning and looked at how compasses work with north, south, east and west. Then he read some of his school book "Spooky" before bed time.

Lettuce

General

Elliott was good today and did his Maths homework twice through without any problems and quickly when asked.

Activities

In the morning we watched some Roy on CBBC and he read some of a Star Wars book he has. Then he did his first lot of Maths questions before football. He did them totally independently and got everything right and with no fuss. Then it was off to football which was a bit disappointing but he still said he enjoyed it (though got a stitch in the second half). Sally joined us as we walked to the car and we discussed how disappointing it is when teams play ringers as it doesn't help anyone's development. Then we headed off to Asda where he was really good during our food shopping and afterwards spent his pocket money on a very reduced Poe Dameron and speeder set with a big Poe Dameron figure. We also had lunch at Asda as they did have hot dogs.

After we got home from Asda he played with his new Poe Dameron toy and we also made a plane together from a book he got at Christmas with lots of push out cardboard planes to make. Then he did his second round of Maths before chicken fajitas for tea. While we had tea he tried a small bit of lettuce (from a round lettuce) and said he thought it was ok. He decided not to have any in his fajita this time but we talked about maybe trying some in a sandwich in future. After tea it was bath time and then we watched Ninja Warrior UK together before bed time.

Roman shield

General

Elliott was really good after school today.

Activities

After I'd picked him up we went straight home and he made another animation movie and then made a Roman shield out of an empty cereal box as they'd been making Roman shields at school. We had toast for tea and then it was bath time. After bath time he read his pop up book about castles before watching an episode of Roy on CBBC iPlayer. Then he brushed his teeth and watched some iPad before bed time.

Party invites

General

Elliott was good after school today. They'd learnt about telling the time at school.

Activities

After I'd picked him up we went home and had some toast before swimming. We also watched an episode of Arthur. Then it was off to swimming and Elliott enjoyed his lesson. After his lesson I went to Megabowl and confirmed his party booking and paid the half price deposit. They gave us the invites and after we got home he wrote invites for the 9 people he wants to invite - Ella, Kerry, Charlie W, Charlie E, Isaac, Jayden, Thomas, Sam G and Theo from football. Then he made a Lego animator movie while we listened to some "indigo" (indie - Oasis) before we looked at his home learning which was about learning to tell the time. Then he read some of his school book "All Stars High - Help" before brushing his teeth and bed time.
