Oxford Museum of Natural History

General

Elliott was really good today even though it was quite a busy day and also involved quite a lot of walking.

Activities

Football in the morning wasn't the best game of the season and I thought Panthers on a better day would have won, but I thought Elliott was as good as ever at the back and thoroughly deserved his man of the match award - number 4 of the season. Having said that I also thought Jackdip was great at making sure everyone got a decent run out and not focusing too much on the result:

After football we headed for Oxford via McDonalds for lunch (Elliott had a nuggets happy meal).

When we got to Oxford we caught the park and ride in to the town centre and then walked to the Natural History museum where we met up with Harry and Jack Jenkins and Izzy and Edward (Izzy is Andrea's god daughter). The museum was really good and had lots of dinosaur and animal skeletons in a smallish space, so was easy to get round:

There was also lots of fossils, rocks and stuffed animals that everyone was allowed to touch:

All in all it was really good fun for all of us:

There was also another museum in the same building called the Pitt Rivers museum that had a lot of historical artefacts from lots of different places in the world and we had a quick look around this but it was a bit dark and all the items were crowded together so we didn't stay long. There were some interesting things to see there though including some real life shrunken heads and a huge totem pole.

After the museums we said goodbye to everyone and on our way out we bought some blue calcite from the museum gift shop because it looks like the same crystals as Diamond Head uses in Ben 10. Then we headed back to Oxford town centre and caught the park and ride back to the car. After we got home Elliott had ham and cheese on toast for his tea before bath time. After his bath he read Chapters 3 and 4 of "Captain Comet and the Purple Planet" and then watched some Ben 10 on the iPad before a smooth bed time.
