Robot Wars

General

Elliott was really good after I picked him up.

Activities

In the car on the way home we talked about Pokemon Go and he logged in to his account and started playing again. We stopped for a Mars bar for his pudding on the say and he caught some Pokemon while we were getting the chocolate. After we got home he showed us all his new Lego and we played with it before he had a bath. After bath time we watched some Robot Wars and then he brushed his teeth, went to bed and he played Subway Surfer on the iPad before it was time to go to sleep.

Summer holidays

General

Elliott was good after school today and had a packed lunch.

Activities

After school we went home where we met Granny and Grandpa. We had a cup of tea while Elliott showed them his Star Wars micro machines (that he'd taken to school for games day) and his Stonehenge jigsaw. Then we headed in to town where Granny and Grandpa bought him a Ghost Rider Lego set as a well done for his good school year and we had his photo taken for his Blue Peter card. Then we headed back to the flat and he played cricket in the garden with Granny and Grandpa while I did some work. Then we headed out to Pizza Express for tea where we met up with Andrea. He had his classic dough balls, pasta burro and chocolate brownie meal. After the meal Granny and Grandpa headed home and we also went home. As it was getting quite late he got ready for bed without a bath and brushed his teeth. Then he started making his Lego set before it was time for bed and sleep.

Stage 5 swimming

General

Elliott was good after school today and he had "Spanish version of pasta" for lunch. He did dawdle quite a lot around bedtime but after I was firm with him he speeded up.

Activities

After school we went home for ham sandwiches before his first Stage 5 swimming lesson. He was quite nervous about going up a stage. However after we got to Carnival Pool and he'd got ready he seemed ok and I walked him over to his new teacher who, by a stroke of luck, was the same teacher he'd had for Stage 3 which really helped. Stage 5 swimming was in the deep end and he seemed to be doing a lot of proper swimming. After swimming he had a shower and then I bought him a football magazine to say well done on getting on with trying Stage 5. After we got home we watched some Blue Peter and then he helped get the washing in again. After that he played with his Star Wars micro machines (which he is taking in as his game tomorrow for the last day of term) and then he brushed his teeth. Then it was time for bed and sleep.

End of year assessments

General

Elliott was good after school today and he'd had meatballs for lunch. He also got his end of year assessments today where he did well in the maths and reading tests (above expectations for age group) and in his teacher assessments he was as expected for writing / grammar, punctuation and spelling / and maths and above age expected for reading.

Activities

After school we went to Tescos and did some shopping. I also gave Elliott £10 to spend after his good report and he bought some Pokemon cards, a Micro Machine Star Wars blind bag (which had a Jedi Interceptor in it) and a Teenage Mutant Turtles blind bag (which had Raphael in it). Then we went home and he watched Pokemon while I made ham sandwiches for tea. After tea he helped get the washing in and then he had a bath before playing on his guitar for a bit. Then he read his Star Wars book again before bed time, brushing his teeth and then going to bed.

Splat the rat

General

Elliott was good today but was quite tired by the end of the day.

Activities

We had a good night's sleep as the family camping area had been moved away from the general camping area this year and so was nice and quiet. After Elliott woke up we went looking for breakfast in the Festival and found croissants which we bought and took back to the camp site. Then we packed away the tents and packed up the car so we could leave when we were ready. After we'd packed everything in to the car we went back in to the Festival and off to the children's area where we played more swingball, some splat the rat, threw more balls at the coconut shy (and Elliott knocked off some coconuts), Elliott did some more climbing and he had another go at archery:

After that we headed off to the swing rounabout ride and Elliott persuaded me to have a go on the ride with him:

Then we headed off to the Market Stage for some shade and we watched a band called Caspian's Island who we enjoyed and Elliott described as "loud". Then we went back to the main Truck Stage and Elliott had one last go on the Helter Skelter (during which he had to hold on to his hat):

He also tried on some groovy sunglasses at one of the stalls:

After the end of a band on the Truck Stage called Tax The Heat (quite hard rock so Elliott enjoyed them) we headed back to the car and stopped at McDonalds at Didcot for lunch on the way home. Elliott had chicken nuggets happy meal.

After lunch we drove home and when we'd got home we unpacked and then relaxed for the afternoon. Elliott drew Picachu the Pokemon and watched some Pokemon on the iPad. Then it was time for a much needed bath for him before ham sandwiches for tea and then some reading (his Star Wars book) before bed time. He went to sleep very quickly again.

Truck Festival 2016

General

Elliott was good today until towards the end when he sulked for a while about not being able to go on the Helter Skelter ride again. However after ignoring the sulk he gradually came out of it and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Activities

After we got to Truck Festival we went to the tents with Elliott's bags and then headed to the main stage where Mr Motivator was leading the crowd in a midday workout. Elliott was quite confused by watching all the Festival goers working out but he did seem to also find it quite funny:

After Mr Motivator he had his first Helter Skelter ride of the day before we went to the retro gaming tent and played Tekken on an original Playstation, Fifa 96 on a Megadrive, Mario Kart on an old Nintendo console and a game with guns that fire at the screen on another old console:

We both enjoyed the games although Elliott wasn't impressed with some of the old graphics and found Fifa 96 hard to see and play. After the gaming he had a go on the roundabout swing ride before we headed to the children's area. In the children's area we played swingball, threw balls at a coconut shy, he spent some time climbing in a spiders web climbing frame and also there was an archery range where a really patient man taught him how to shoot arrows. He got quite good at the archery:

After the archery we headed back in to the food area via the cinema tent (where we watched a quick snatch of Ghostbusters):

We grabbed some snacks in the food area and Elliott had some chocolate cake.

After we'd eaten we headed back to the main Truck stage and set up camp at the back to watch some bands. On the way to the stage Elliott had another go on the swing roundabout ride and when we got to the Truck stage area he had another go at the Helter Skelter.

He also had some chicken strips and chips for tea while we watched Rat Boy, who he seemed to enjoy but declared "weird" (he's a bit like The Streets / Jamie T). After Rat Boy we watched Circa Waves and he liked them, but he also got upset as the Helter Skelter was now lit up and he really wanted another go while it had lights on, but I wouldn't let him as he'd had enough goes. He sulked but he didn't shout. After a while of us talking about other things he stopped sulking and then when the Manic Street Preachers came on he said he thought they were good and I lifted him on to my shoulders for "Motorcycle Emptiness". We watched quite a lot of the Manic Street Preachers set but it was late so we headed off before the end to avoid the crowds and went back to the tents. After he'd changed in to his pyjamas Elliott fell asleep very quickly.

Stage 4 swimming completed

General

Elliott was really good after school today and he'd had sausage and mash for lunch.

Activities

After I'd picked him up we went home and he had ham sandwiches for tea. During tea I read his report which was so good and made sure I told him how well he'd done. Then it was off to his swimming lesson and this week he completed Stage 4 and got his Stage 4 badge and certificate. We've booked in to start Stage 5 classes next Tuesday. After swimming he started drawing a Pokemon comic, played Pokemon Camp on the iPad, brushed his teeth, read some of one of his Ben 10 books and then it was time to go to sleep.

Subway

General

Elliott was good after school today but he was quite grumpy in the morning before school. He said he'd had a good day and enjoyed playing cricket in PE, though tests had made his brain ache.

Activities

After I'd picked him up we went to Subway for tea and Elliott had a ham and pepperoni sandwich for tea. Then we popped home to get his swimming kit before going to his swimming lesson where he enjoyed himself and had a shower afterwards. After we got home we finished his Shelley in space drawing and poem for Blue Peter and sent them off to see if he can earn a Silver Blue Peter badge. He also watched some Dangermouse and a new CBBC show called Jamie Johnson. Then he brushed his teeth and read some of his Toxic magazine in bed before it was time to go to sleep.

Wolverine

General

Elliott was a little tired after school today although he didn't behave badly at all, he just lacked a bit of his normal energy.

Activities

After we first got home Elliott did his last lot of sums for his homework. Then we had ham sandwiches for tea while watching Dangermouse. After that we headed off to the last football training of this summer season and when we got home he had a quick bath, brushed his teeth and read some of his Wolverine Origins book in bed before it was time to go to sleep.

Olympic diving and long jump

General

Elliott was good today even though he seemed a little tired at times following the sleepover.

Activities

The boys woke up quite early and played quietly together until breakfast time when we had cereal, croissants and bacon rolls. Then all the children watched some television together before they all headed out in to the garden and played on the trampoline and with the balls together. Then they all came back in and watched more television together:

Then it was time to go just before lunchtime. After we got home he did his first lot of times tables homework and then we had burgers and rice for lunch as we'd kindly been given some leftover burgers.

After lunch we had a lazy time watching Doctor Who. Then we went to the skate park and Elliott scootered around the half pipe (unfortunately there were too many big boys around to use the other ramps). After he'd scootered home he did his second lot of times tables homework and we did his home learning (writing facts down about two Olympic sports - he chose diving and long jump). The we went out to the flat's garden and played some football and Amelia came out and played with us. Then it was time for ham rolls for tea before his bath time, reading some of his Doctor Who encyclopedia, brushing his teeth and bed time.

Salisbury Cathedral School Association reunion

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

After breakfast we headed off to Salisbury where we visited Salisbury Cathedral School Association reunion for ex pupils there. After we arrived we had a look around the school and Elliott enjoyed running around the grounds and the "back of the lake" there:

He also seemed particularly interested in the English classroom. After we'd had a look round it was time for the photo of all the Old Boys who'd come and then we met up with Hilary Weale and had lunch in the school dining room. During lunch time Nick Berry also arrived. Elliott had ham rolls and the headmaster, who was around socialising, was very kind and got him a packet of crisps especially as he was the youngest visitor there. After lunch we all sang the school songs together and then it was time to head off to get to a John and Ruth Robertson's barbeque in Twyford.

There were three other boys at the barbeque, Gus. who was 8, his brother Evan who was 6 and another little boy called Sam who was 2. There were also 2 girls there, John and Ruth's daughters Alice, who was 4, and her sister Hetty, who was 2. So Elliott had a lot of fun playing with the other children, especially Gus and Evan:

The three of them played football outside in the garden for a long time, before going in for burgers and sausages at the table for tea. After tea they went back out and played more football before it was time for them to all go to bed at 8pm. They all brushed their teeth and Elliott, Gus and Evan all went to sleep in the same room where they were very quiet after bed time and were all asleep by 8.30pm.

After school we popped in to Lidl on the way home for some shopping. When we got home we watched a Cyberman episode of Doctor Who before he had ham sandwiches for tea. Then he had his bath and played Disney Infinity on the iPad before watching some of the build up to the Belgium verses Wales Euro 2016 semi final. Then he brushed his teeth, read some of his Turtles comic in bed and it was time to go to sleep.
