Truck Festival 2016

General

Elliott was good today until towards the end when he sulked for a while about not being able to go on the Helter Skelter ride again. However after ignoring the sulk he gradually came out of it and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Activities

After we got to Truck Festival we went to the tents with Elliott's bags and then headed to the main stage where Mr Motivator was leading the crowd in a midday workout. Elliott was quite confused by watching all the Festival goers working out but he did seem to also find it quite funny:

After Mr Motivator he had his first Helter Skelter ride of the day before we went to the retro gaming tent and played Tekken on an original Playstation, Fifa 96 on a Megadrive, Mario Kart on an old Nintendo console and a game with guns that fire at the screen on another old console:

We both enjoyed the games although Elliott wasn't impressed with some of the old graphics and found Fifa 96 hard to see and play. After the gaming he had a go on the roundabout swing ride before we headed to the children's area. In the children's area we played swingball, threw balls at a coconut shy, he spent some time climbing in a spiders web climbing frame and also there was an archery range where a really patient man taught him how to shoot arrows. He got quite good at the archery:

After the archery we headed back in to the food area via the cinema tent (where we watched a quick snatch of Ghostbusters):

We grabbed some snacks in the food area and Elliott had some chocolate cake.

After we'd eaten we headed back to the main Truck stage and set up camp at the back to watch some bands. On the way to the stage Elliott had another go on the swing roundabout ride and when we got to the Truck stage area he had another go at the Helter Skelter.

He also had some chicken strips and chips for tea while we watched Rat Boy, who he seemed to enjoy but declared "weird" (he's a bit like The Streets / Jamie T). After Rat Boy we watched Circa Waves and he liked them, but he also got upset as the Helter Skelter was now lit up and he really wanted another go while it had lights on, but I wouldn't let him as he'd had enough goes. He sulked but he didn't shout. After a while of us talking about other things he stopped sulking and then when the Manic Street Preachers came on he said he thought they were good and I lifted him on to my shoulders for "Motorcycle Emptiness". We watched quite a lot of the Manic Street Preachers set but it was late so we headed off before the end to avoid the crowds and went back to the tents. After he'd changed in to his pyjamas Elliott fell asleep very quickly.
