Woodley Wanderers Under 8s award ceremony

General

Elliott was really good today.

Activities

After I picked him up we went back and I gave him some presents from the holiday (a Montengran ship in a bottle and a Spiderman cap) which he seemed to like. Then I asked him to do his homework and he got on with it without making any fuss which was brilliant (it was finding alternative words for nouns, verbs and adjectives and identifying which words in a passage are nouns, verbs and adjectives). After finishing his homework he had a GoGo battle with Andrea using all of his GoGos so it went on for quite a while. Then it was time for an early lunch of honey sandwiches before the Woodley Wanderers Under 8s award ceremony.

After lunch we headed to the Madejski Stadium for the awards which I thought were really good. I also thought the conference suite at the Stadium was a really good venue. And it was good to see the boys get together to celebrate the season. I thought what Jackdip said about their spirit and focus on enjoying playing and having fun was very fitting and it was refreshing to hear him say he thought that was a good thing at their age:

It was also really nice of Jackdip to say Elliott had come second for both most improved player in Panthers and Manager's player of the season for Panthers and that he was glad the summer season was going so well for him. I thought Javier and Harry were both good choices for each Award. Afterwards Elliott seemed very happy with his club trophy for being part of the team anyway. On the way home we popped in to Smyths toy shop and bought toy spy night vision binoculars with his pocket money. After we got home we played some more GoGos before taking Andrea to Wokingham train station as she headed off to meet up with her family in Italy. Then we had pasta with a tomato and ham sauce for tea before bath time. After his bath we talked about money for this week's home learning, including making a list of items that cost a pound. Finally he read some of his school book "Titanic Survivor" before I read him some of his latest Jack Stalwart book and then it was bed time.
